Good sports tee-off to raise £6,140 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance
November 9, 2009
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance has benefited from funds raised through a charity corporate golf tournament hosted by Drax Power Limited.
Teams including representatives of Drax’s suppliers and contractors took part in the third annual Drax Charity Golf Day, held at Fulford Golf Club in York, raising £6,140 for the charity, double the amount raised at the 2008 event.
Peter Emery, production director at Drax said: “The Yorkshire Air Ambulance provides a crucial emergency service for the region and we are delighted to have doubled the amount raised last year.
“The Charity Golf Day was a successful and enjoyable event for everyone involved and we are extremely grateful to our suppliers and contractors for their overwhelming support. Thanks to them every hole was sponsored including the putting competition, yellow ball competition and halfway house, as were some of the raffle prizes.”
Bob Smailes, regional fundraising manager at The Yorkshire Air Ambulance said: “The Yorkshire Air Ambulance relies solely on the generosity of individuals and sponsors to help save lives across the region and we are very grateful for the continued support of Drax.”
