Work by winning artists on display at Morrisons store

February 1, 2010

A touring exhibition of award-winning paintings and drawings by local school pupils began in Selby this week.

Works by 12 finalists in the Drax Power Limited Art In The Community competition are on show at the Morrisons store, on Market Cross, Selby until 21 February.

The budding artists range in age from 5-18 and now, together with thousands of customers, they have the chance to view their masterpieces in a ‘gallery’ created along the wall behind the store’s tills.

After Morrisons the exhibition will then move on to Howden Minster. The tour follows an award ceremony at Drax Power Station where the finalists and their schools were awarded prize money totalling more than £2,500.

Art In The Community is part of Drax’s community relations programme designed to encourage and develop art appreciation as part of the company’s support for education and to promote art learning within the National Curriculum.
